Principal Architect

Don A. Swofford  is seeking a Principal to join the practice. The position will entail oversight of all phases of architectural services. To fill the position one will need to be an experienced, creative and highly motivated individual who thrives in a multi-disciplinary environment. Travel throughout the United States and the ability to undertake fieldwork is required.

 Candidates should hold a professional degree in architecture, landscape architecture or planning, professional licensure and at least 10 years of architectural and planning experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in traditional architecture, historic preservation and business development.

This is a professional architectural firm specializing in historic preservation and traditional design that includes the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, archeology, planning, preservation technology, and historical research. Since the founding in 1978,we have consistently produced numerous award winning works throughout Virginia, and the middle Atlantic States.

Architectural Interns

The firm currently has openings for fulltime Architectural Interns with a minimum of 2 years experience.  Candidates will be motivated, timely, possess good communication skills, and be interested in long term commitment to achievement in their profession.  A professional or technical degree in architecture or engineering and a proficiency in AutoCAD are required.
